I recently bought a legit copy of Neverwinter Nights 2 on sale at a bookstore. Yes I know it's 11 years old now. I'd still like to be able to patch the game, but alas the site nwn2.com seems long gone. I checked archive.org and a few other places and even links on game cheats are gone. Neverwinter Nights 2 (also knows as NWN2) is a role-playing game developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Atari and was released on October 31, 2006 for Windows and Mac OS X. Neverwinter Nights 2 is the sequel to BioWare Neverwinter Nights, based on the Dungeons & Dragons pen and paper game of fantasy role-playing.The game uses an adaptation of the rules of Dungeons & Dragons.

His adventures continue in Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer. Our protagonist discovers that an ominous spell has fallen on him. A curse of perpetual hunger–one which can only be quelled by consuming the souls of spirits. In order to remove the curse, he has to travel to the Shadow Realm, which harbors dark secrets and tormented souls.

Neverwinter Nights 2: Storm of Zehir gives as a breather from grand quests of destiny and epic ordeals. You simply assemble a group of four adventurers (either by carefully picking out each of their statistics and skills or by randomly re-rolling your characters until you find the ones that suit you) and go where the wind takes you. Just make sure to get a good look at the map as you will need it to explore the wide open region of Samarach and the Sword Coast. Then, yet another adventure: in an ancient and forgotten tomb you found an unusual mask. It made you quite powerful but changed your life into a living nightmare. Strange, terrifying visions torment your psyche. Every time you try to get rid of the accursed mask, it secretly makes its way back to you. There’s just one solution: set sail for Westgate and discover the secret of the Night Masks in Neverwinter Nights 2: Mysteries of Westgate.

So I'm sort of in a tough spot right now, I have decided to recently re-install my copy of NWN2 in order to play with a friend however, we encounter a issue in that the hard copy is not fully patched as compared to the GOG or Steam versions. I've searched all across the internet for the manual files (since the IGN server no longer provides them meaning auto-update no longer works) and came up short.
I've found nothing other than the manual patcher... something that requires the rtp files in order to patch it. (Which I cannot find).
Therefore, I have come here looking for any suggestions or help that can be provided. Would it for example be possible for GOG to provide me with the patch files?

The patch files for NWN2 are no longer hosted on the vault. All links that lead to the vault go to a page that previously hosted the links but has since been changed and now only links you to a web forum and has the title:

I would post links but presently I cannot.
Unless I am missing something the Vault doesn't have the NWN2 patches either.

Which version of NWN 2 did you just install? If it's the GOG version, you don't need to get any patch as it's already updated. If it's the disc version, then you need something like 7-Zip to open the archived file, which you can get for free.

The link that Jarmo posted for the NWN Vault IS valid. There is also a 'Patcher' file that makes downloading and installing the various patches much easier. I think there are about 15 patches for the Original Campaign and then a couple more for the Expansion Packs. Thank goodness for the community that supports the game after the original companies involved abandoned it.
